Thoughts of Grandpa Lynn

Today was a sad and happy day…
Today was a day of reflection and memories…
Today was a day of laughter and tears…
Today was the day of my Grandpa Lynn’s funeral…

Grandpa Lynn was 89 years old.  He lived a very active life until the past year when he was in and out of the hospital several times.
Two weeks ago his kidneys stopped working and he knew it was just a matter of time.

We went to see him the day before he died…
We could tell he just wasn’t himself.
Somehow the spark that was always in his eyes just wasn’t there.
Until right before we left…

I said, “Grandpa, you know we’re all looking forward to heaven and being with the
Lord…”  He replied with enthusiasm and spunk, “Well, He’d better be there!!”
It was the last conversation I had with him.
Thank you, Grandpa, for this precious memory!

Another week will soon be over! How quickly the moments come and go.
I have been reminded this week, as I have been before, that a death in the family
really slows things down. Suddenly plans are changed and families come together
to comfort each other and celebrate the life of their loved one. Time seems to be
suspended… nothing is more important than being there.

May I remember this when it seems life is too busy for me to let someone know
how much I care…

I better take the time now to say I Love You.
I better take the time now to spend time with those I love.
I better take the time now to send a card of encouragement.
I better take the time now to attend the many activities of my children.
I better take the time now to reach out and touch someone.
I better take the time now to enjoy the simple things of life that are free…
the beauty of a sunset, the elegance of a rose, the smile of a child…
I better take the time now to release any grudges or unforgiveness in my heart.
I better take the time now to let go of the past that hinders me from enjoying today.
I better take the time now to help others win and be a success in life.
I better take the time now to respect and love every person who comes into my life.
I better take the time now to make a difference in people’s lives.
I better take the time now to treasure each moments of today..it is a precious gift.
I better make lasting memories that will be treasured in the years to come
right now…this moment will not ever come again!

Blessings to you, my friends!
